My name is Respick Shayo. I am 21 years old and am from the Kilimanjaro Region. There is 7 in my family: mother, father, 2 brothers, 2 sisters. I am the youngest.
I moved to the street in 1995 because my father could not provide my basic needs. I lived on the streets of Moshi for 3 years until Mkombozi took me from the streets to look after me and send me to school. I was very young.
Initially, living at Mkombozi was very hard, but as the project developed, things got easier. Mkombozi helped give me an education and now I can manage my life. They have provided my basic needs of food and shelter, too.
I have been at Mkombozi for 9 years so far. I am getting work experience now at another street child project here in Moshi, since I am interested in pursuing social work after "A level" studies. My plan for the future is to specialize in sociology and psychology.
I think Mkombozi is helping the young people fulfill their dreams. They take them from harsh conditions and improve their life.
