Self-actualisation, recreation and leisure

Program overview:

Mkombozi knows that when children are having fun and being creative, they respond and participate most fully. As such, Mkombozi provides opportunities for children to develop a wide range of skills, such as drumming, acrobatics, drama, gardening, art and sports.

In fact, on the last Saturday of each month, a performance is organised by the children to showcase their diverse dramatic and musical talents - almost 300 community members regularly attend "Jioni ya Msanii" (Evening of the Artist) for an evening of entertainment and art.

All of Mkombozi's current sports, play, education and mentoring programmes are intended to build children's resilience and to develop their unique, personal potential. Moving forward, these services will be expanded to include group therapy and a "roving mobile school" that works to build the self-esteem of children still living on the streets.
