Dates: December 1st, 2006 - September 1st, 2007
Goal: To raise £50,000 (i.e. USD $100,000) by September 1st, 2007 - funds for an endowment with interest securing the payment of secondary school and college fees for Mkombozi youth.
Rationale: Mkombozi's youth are artists, craftsmen, sportsmen, comedians, cooks, musicians, dancers, mechanics, carpenters, electricians, gardeners, farmers, social workers, community developers, doctors, lawyers, teachers and politicians. For these gifts and talents to be unleashed, it takes hopeful people to put aside stereotypes and to invest in these children so that they will, as one young person puts it, "reach their stars"! Currently, we commit funds to the education of Mkombozi's youth up to the 4th year of Tanzanian secondary school (i.e. Form IV). As such, their potential is compromised at the very time they most need educational and vocational training that will help them to transition from residential care to independent living. The Education Endowment Campaign is an important opportunity to improve access to / quality of education for all Mkombozi's children so that they can attend Form V, VI and college!
