IMPORTANT NOTICE: As of October 2007, Mkombozi is temporarily unable to process applications from international volunteers. You are welcome to submit your completed application, however, and we will let you know as soon as we are able to proceed with its consideration.
Volunteers are an important asset for Mkombozi. The organisation welcomes volunteers of all nationalities, religions, races and creeds and is open to differing levels of skills and experience in a variety of fields, including (but not limited to): social work, counselling, nursing, HIV/AIDS awareness, education, curriculum development, training, research and communications.
Please review the Screening process for international volunteers at Mkombozi. It may help to answer some of your initial questions.
In particular, we are currently seeking assistance in the following areas...
- Mental health / Social workers: Trained and experienced professionals are always needed in these areas to work with the boys at Mkombozi’s residential centre.
- Teaching: Qualified and experienced teachers and TEFL instructors are always welcome to work with Mkombozi’s children, designing and delivering curriculum.
- Fundraising: We need volunteers to help us prepare and launch annual campaigns to raise funds for our residential centre. We also need volunteers to organise fundraising events.
- Information technology: We need volunteers to help set up and maintain computer networks in Tanzanian schools.
Whatever your area of expertise, please contact us and provide a summary of your experience which indicates how you are best suited to help at Mkombozi.
NOTE: Mkombozi's recruitment and selection procedures reflect our commitment to the safety and protection of children in our care, activities and programs. Volunteers are expected to comply with Mkombozi's Child Protection Policy.
Attention volunteers:
- Agreement to host you depends on a clean reference check, the timing of your visit and the skills, experience and enthusiasm you can offer.
- We only accept foreign volunteers who can stay for at least 6 months. We don't accept "school leavers" or those on a "gap year".
- We don’t provide food or accommodation, but we do provide information on how to find it in Arusha / Moshi.
- We do not accept volunteers under the age of 18, unless you are volunteering on behalf of another organization.
